Ultralocal

Ultralocal was born out of a project to squat a disused space in the 18th arrondissement of Paris through artistic events. It quickly extended its activities beyond this space, and regularly organized workshops, which formed the backbone of the collective’s approach.

These workshops brought artists together to experiment and explore new contexts, challenging their individual art practices. Ultralocal emphasized autonomy, appropriation and collaboration, often working with minimal resources. The collective organized explorations of the landscape (natural or urban), looking for potential spaces for artistic interventions beyond the traditional exhibition space and studio.

Over time, Ultralocal has developed more permanent projects, such as Véhicule particulier, a music label for car-specific compositions, and Recettes, hackerspace-inspired knowledge exchange workshops.
